it used to be a hot spot this place
with a parking lot the size of outer space
but it's vacant and abandoned
with grass in the cracks in the pavement
this would make a great cornfield
or any kind of field at all
it used to be a mountain town
now it's a shopping mall
a big business will come along
and tear all this out
and then they will re-pave it
and they will pave it all again

now it's a wal-mart about to fall down
they used to be made of wicker
and now they've got bumper stickers
that say pave it all
that say pave it all again
it used to be a hot spot this place
with enough black top to pave outer space
